Toys and Shelves
Less is more.
Bins or baskets of overflowing toys can be overwhelming. Keep your offering of toys minimal so that your child is encouraged to repeat and explore with them in a variety of ways.
Allow your child to become bored with a toy, and offer a new way to use it. Can the stacker be built sideways, upside down? On a rug or carpet? If we are constantly giving new games, books, toys, your child will become accustomed to always looking for the newest stimulation. Foster creativity by showing new ways to use the same toys.
When you notice a toy is unused, store it away to be brought out in a month or so. Hiding away old books, games, activities will pique new interest when re-discovered.
