Pack a Punch with School Lunch

As a dedicated pediatric dietitian, I know the importance of healthy and appealing lunches that not only nourish kids' bodies but also fuel their active minds throughout the school day.

What to include:

  1. Protein

  2. Healthy Fats

  3. Colorful Fruits and Veggies

  4. Grains (aim for whole, high fiber ones more often)

Tips:

  1. Get creative: cookie cutters, skewers, molds and bright containers are eye-catching.

  2. Get your child involved in planning and preparation of meals. The more input they have, the more likely they'll eat it.

  3. Try experimenting with flavor, texture , color and variety to build excitement.

  4. Make it fun! Bento-style lunches with compartments, bite-sized portions (think finger foods) or personalized lunchboxes are a hit with kids.
