Bathroom
Independence in the bathroom is not only for potty training.
Foster and encourage self-awareness for your child.
Use a child-level mirror to demonstrate how to properly blow nose and check faces after a meal
Your child can have access to their own first-aid kit to care for scrapes and cuts.
*do not immediately replace bandaids after their have been used up, so your child begins to understand use and waste.
Brushing Teeth
Travel sized toothpaste and child toothbrush.
Sing a song for brushing teeth (Happy Birthday, Twinkle Twinkle, etc.) or use a visual timer.
Take turns, child brushes, followed by parent.
Do it together, side by side
Find a point of interest. “Let’s listen for the sound the brush makes against the teeth!”
In the Bath
Your child can practice bathing a water-proof doll with a washcloth and soap.
and small travel sized containers to access soap.
