Winter Activities for Children

Toddlers and young children love to clean!

Window washing: a small spray bottle, squeegee and cloth can be used on a window, glass door or any outdoor surface.

Window Washing Kit (other option here).

Hand Washing: Your child can also practice hand washing in the bathroom sink, or with a large mixing bowl at a lot table. Using bar soap, and a fingernail scrubber, they can explore lathering and making bubbles.

Table Washing or Surface Washing: With a bucket, sponge and towel, allow your child some freedom in scrubbing, creating bubbles and drying. They can hang wet cloths on a drying rack when completed.

Can also use a scrub brush. Demonstrate for your child how to wash in circular motions, so they can use their full body for large movements.

Practice simple skills with your child, cracking an egg, using a knife on appropriate items, whisking. Show your child one recipe: making scrambled eggs in the morning, and allow them to repeat each day! Or have your child be in charge of preparing snacks for the day: ants on a log or yogurt fruit cups.
