Our Favorite Lunch and Snack Containers for School

When your child goes to school or brings food on any outing, maintaining their independence and ability to handle themselves will support a successful experience out in the world. Choosing food containers that they can handle themselves, easy-to-open and close. It may be helpful to practice beforehand. Children enjoy preparation and will delight in the repetition of how to open and close their new containers. Below are a few tried-and-true favorites that our children have used and loved for years.

  1. Any container by Sistema is durable to be thrown in a backpack or lunchbox, but also has a satisfying “click” to it that children love to handle.

  2. The material of the lunchbot containers slide easily on and off and creates a perfect meal size for school.

  3. The OmieBox has different parts to it, allowing for food that may need a thermos included.

  4. These small containers have a flexible, rubber lid that peels open and closed easily. Great for packing a hummus dip, or small container of nuts, etc.

  5. Pro tip* Use a silicone muffin cup to divide larger sections and hold something smaller.

  6. Another happy box that offers that “click” and has easy compartments to separate food.
