A Few Indoor Activities

Make a Hopscotch Grid

Or a pattern on the ground that your child can expend some gross-motor energy with! A simple line can be for walking on, tip-toeing on, balancing objects on.

Lily Pad Number Hop

Count and place corresponding amounts of stickers on the dots for each lily pad.

Spread the lily pads around the room and hop from each lily pad to the next, counting aloud (up from 1-10 or backward, from 10- 1).

You can also labels lily pads with numbers 11-19 on the back.

Say a number from 1-10 and have your child (and you) run to that lily pad.

Stand on the lily pad and then hop around the room that many times (for example, if the lily pad had a number 5 on it... hop around the room 5 times).

Come up with different ways to hop/move.

Pick a numbered lily pad, and choose how everyone is going to hop/move when they are standing on that lily pad.

Object Crayon Rubbing

Gather leaves or somewhat flat everyday objects that would make interesting rubbings: book mark, paper clip, trivet, buttons, mesh bag, a key, beads, coins, bracelet, piece of sandpaper, different fabric pieces, cardboard cut into different shapes and sizes, doily, Lego piece, etc. Place the paper over the objects. Rub with the side of the crayon. You can either tape or hold the objects as you rub with the crayon.

Easy to grip crayons here, ergonomic crayons here, and pure beeswax here.
